More and more people are looking for jobs where they can work alone, and I get it! I've been working mostly alone for over ten years and I really love it.

After all, one spends a lot of time at work, so you might as well enjoy what you do. If you are an introvert or if you like to work alone, there are jobs where you can do that.

The positives of independent work include:

1. Proofreaders/Concealer

Proofreaders check and edit written content for errors and inconsistencies, and this job requires great attention to detail and excellent grammar skills.

If you're good at paying close attention to detail, then proofreading could be the perfect freelance job for you.

Authors, website owners, and students often hire proofreaders to improve their work. Proofreaders are in high demand and you can find work on many different platforms.

Even the most experienced writers can make mistakes in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Therefore, hiring a proofreader can be very useful for almost anyone.

If you want to find a proofreading job online, I suggest you join it. In this workshop you will learn how to start a freelance proofreading business.

2. Virtual assistant

One of my first side jobs was as a virtual assistant and it was a fun and flexible way to make money. Even though you have a boss when you are a VA, many of the tasks you do will require you to take over and complete them yourself in your own home.

A virtual assistant is someone who helps people remotely with office tasks. It can be from your home or on the go. It can include things like answering emails, setting up meetings, and managing social media accounts.

This job can pay you more than $50,000 every year.

3. Accountant and financial adviser

Accountants are people who keep track of all things related to money for businesses, such as recording sales, keeping records of expenses, and creating financial reports.

This is a job where you can work alone and the typical salary is $40,000+ per year. In addition, you will mainly deal with numbers and not people.

You can join a free workshop that focuses on finding virtual accounting jobs and how to start your own freelance accounting business by registering here for free.

4. Blogger

Blogging is a great way to make money while being self-employed. It's one of the reasons I really enjoy it haha! I get to work alone, for myself, and I can choose the projects I want to work on.

As a blogger, you write content that others can read online. You can choose what you want to write about and also how you want to make money blogging because there are so many different options (like affiliate marketing or displaying ads).

You can start a successful blog on a specific topic like finance, travel, lifestyle, family and many more.

Blogging is my main source of income and it has completely changed my life. I have the freedom to travel when I want, set my own schedule and be my own boss.

Since I started Making Sense of Cents, I have made over $5,000,000 from my blog. I earned this money by working with companies through sponsored partnerships, affiliate marketing, display ads, and selling online courses.

5. Delivery driver

Delivery drivers pick up and drop off packages. And most of the time they get to work by themselves because they are alone in the vehicle.

A delivery driver can drive a car, truck or even a bike, depending on the company they work for. They usually don't have a boss following them around all day, nor do they have to deal with many customers for long periods of time.

6. Book reviewer

Book reviewers read books and share their thoughts in book reviews.

There are websites where you can get paid to share your book reviews and you can earn money via PayPal or bank transfer and sometimes you get to keep the book you reviewed.

They don't just want positive reviews, they want to know what you really think! You see, authors and publishers like to send out free copies of their books so they can get honest opinions. Like us, they know it's helpful to read reviews before deciding whether a book is worth it.

Some sites that pay for book reviews include Online Book Club, Kirkus Media, and BookBrowse.

7. Deliver RVs or cars

You can earn money by traveling around the country delivering vehicles to people and dealers. Sometimes you will tow the vehicle and other times you will drive it.

If you want a job with minimal human interaction, this might be a good one to look into as you are mostly alone. You simply pick up the vehicle, drive yourself and then drop it off.

You must have a clean driving record for this job. Those who do this type of work can earn around $300-$400 (or much more!) for each vehicle they deliver. It depends on the distance they are traveling and what is being transported.

8. Digital or graphic designer

A graphic designer is someone who creates designs for others such as people and businesses.

As a digital designer, you might produce things like images, prints, planners, t-shirt designs, calendars, business card designs, social media graphics, stickers, logos, and more.

9. Transcriber

The main job of an online transcriber is to listen to video or audio files and then write down everything that is said, a process known as transcription. The goal is to write down exactly what you hear, without spelling, grammar or punctuation errors.

There are also many different types of transcribers – legal, general, and medical.

This job requires strong writing and listening skills and you can work from home completely alone.

Online transcribers make an average of around $15 to $30 an hour, with new transcribers on the lower end.

10. Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketers share products or services with their followers for a commission. You do this by placing a link on your website, blog or social media (such as Instagram). When people use this link to buy something, you get a commission.

For example, if you share a link to a book on Amazon and someone buys it through your link, you will earn some money. Companies like Amazon want people like you to help them sell stuff, so they like to work with you because it helps them.

If you get someone to sign up through your special link, the company will give you a commission for telling others about their product. It's like a small thank you for your help!

This is one of my favorite work from home jobs that I do full time!

11. Flipper Flea Market

They find flea market fins at flea markets, yard sales, and thrift stores for a bargain and then resell them for a profit. This job requires a good eye for valuable items and the ability to research market value.

Finding items to resell might be one of the best jobs on this list because we all have stuff around the house that we could probably sell. Plus, there are always things you can buy cheap and possibly sell at a profit.

If you are looking for a solo job, this is a great opportunity to look into further.

I recommend signing up for this great webinar, turn your passion for going to thrift stores, yard sales and flea markets into a profitable sale in as little as 14 days that will help you learn how to make money flipping items too.

12. Sell prints on Etsy

Creating and selling digital prints on Etsy is a great way to freelance and make money.

Creating printables can also be pretty hands-off because you only need to create one digital file for each product and you can sell it as many times as you want. Getting started is quite affordable as all you need is a laptop or computer and an internet connection.

Printables are digital items that customers can download and print at home. They can include things like bridal showers, grocery shopping checklists, budget planners, invitations, wall art printables, and patterns.

I recommend signing up for the free workshop: How to Make Money Selling Prints. This free training will give you great ideas of what you can sell, how to get started, costs and how to sell.

13. Amazon Seller

Selling items on Amazon is a job where you work alone (mostly) and don't have to deal with customers face-to-face.

Even if you're new to selling on Amazon, you can make money selling home goods, books, electronics, and more.

If you are interested in learning about starting a business on Amazon, you can join this free training that will teach you how to sell products on Amazon and earn around $100 to $500 every day.

14. Photographer

Photographers work for themselves and most of the time this job can be done without talking to anyone. Almost all tasks can be done with just the camera and then upload the photos to the web.

Photo sites are some of the most popular ways for photographers to sell their images. These are sites where customers can purchase images for websites, TV shows, books, social media accounts, and more. There are photos I purchased in this blog post and you can view them to see an example.

One great thing about photo sites is that they can be a great form of passive income. You can take photos, upload them and earn money from the older photo for months or even years in the future. No need to talk to anyone because everything is online and mostly automated.

Some stock photo websites include Shutterstock, iStock, DepositPhotos, and Dreamstime.

15. Administrator of social networks

Social media managers post to business social media accounts with the goal of bringing in new customers and helping the business grow.

Social media managers can post an image or video of a product or company, join a viral trend and get more views (like on TikTok), answer common customer questions, and more.

This includes social media platforms such as

Tick Tock,

• Pinterest,

• Instagram,

• Twitter,

• and Facebook.

• Youtube

• Linkedin

Salary can vary and this job can be part-time or full-time.

16. Landscaper

A landscaper improves and maintains outdoor areas, for example by tending the lawn, planting flowers or even renovating the entire outdoor space (eg to make it pleasant to sit outside and have company).

If you are interested in a job where you work outside alone, this is one to consider as you will be outside and working alone a lot. Customers may talk to you occasionally, but you're mostly alone.

Landscapers work on homes, apartment complexes, businesses, or anywhere else.

17. Data entry clerk

Data entry workers enter, update, and review information in databases or spreadsheets. They write information like numbers and names into computers to keep things organized and recorded.

This work can sometimes be done remotely and alone, with minimal supervision or interaction with customers.

Data entry jobs typically pay around $15-$20 per hour.

18. Editor

Editors review and improve written content for clients and usually work alone as they spend most of their time editing content.

Their job is to read articles, blog posts, ads, books and more to make them better. They correct any mistakes in grammar or spelling and help the words flow smoothly. Editors typically earn between $40 and $60 per hour.

19- Freelance writer

Freelance writers write content for clients such as blog posts, advertising and more. Freelance jobs where you work alone are common because you are given a topic to write about by the client and you can get feedback when you are done (such as paragraphs to improve or add). But that's usually as much human interaction as you're going to get if you want it.

You can find different writing jobs on platforms like Upwork and Fiverr, or even find clients yourself.

I was a freelance writer for many years before transitioning to a full-time job writing here at Making Sense of Cents. It's a great career where you can work from home mostly by yourself.

20. Translator

Translators translate written content from one language to another, requiring fluency in at least two languages. Freelance and remote opportunities are available.

If you know another language, you may be able to find a job from home where you can earn money by reading and translating books. Another option is to get paid to proofread or edit translated books to ensure they read fluently and accurately.

There are many places where you can find translation jobs such as UpWork, Babelcube, Today Translations, Ulatus, Fiverr and more.

21. Computer programmer

Computer programmers write and maintain computer software, often working on projects alone.

They use coding to tell computers what to do and create all sorts of things like apps, games and websites.

22. Canva Template Designer

Creating and selling Canva templates online allows you to work independently.

A Canva template is like a pre-made design that you can use for things like creating posters, Pinterest pins, eBooks, or presentations. It's like having a useful starting point if you're not super good at designing things from scratch. Canva templates include blank spaces where you can insert your own words and images, and you can also change colors and fonts to make them exactly how you want them. They are really useful for people who want their stuff to look nice without spending a lot of time on it.

Creating and selling Canva templates can be a great way to make extra money because you only need to create them once and then sell them as many times as you want.

23. Voice Over Actor

A voice actor is a person whose voice you hear but don't see in YouTube videos, radio commercials, educational videos, and more.

Voice-over actors often work directly from their homes!

Voice actors don't need experience for this job (it helps in the end, yes). Instead, they need to have the voice that society is looking for.

24. Truck driver

Truck drivers are people who move things from one place to another. Truck drivers need a commercial driver's license (CDL) to perform this job. This job often involves long hours of independent work.

The salary for a truck driver can depend on things like the type of stuff they move and the miles they have to drive. They can usually earn between $45,000 and $75,000 or even more per year.

25- UPS driver

UPS drivers deliver packages to people's homes and businesses. They mostly do it alone, alone in their trucks.

UPS drivers make a good income, earning around $30-$45 an hour or more, depending on how many years they have worked at UPS and where they work.

26. Get paid for SMS

When you get paid to text, many times you'll talk to someone else, but it's all done via text.

Some jobs may include:

  • • Text therapy or a coach
  • • Answering questions such as if you are a mechanic, doctor, lawyer, vet, home professional, appraiser, computer expert
  • Customer support

27. Explorer

Taking online surveys and answering questions for focus groups is not a full-time job, but it can be a way to make extra money.

You share your thoughts and answer simple questions, and in return you can get cash or rewards like Amazon gift cards.

Some of the survey companies I recommend signing up with and the best paying survey sites include:

1. American consumer opinion

2. Survey Junkie

3. Swagbucks

4. InboxDollars

5. Brand Surveys

6. Pine cone research

7. The Rebel Award

8. User Interviews – These are the highest paying surveys with an average of around $60.

28. Twitch Streamers

Twitch is a website where you can earn money by playing video games, live streaming online, and more. A streamer may be able to make money from their own home and all by themselves. Yes, they need to live stream their lives, but they are their own boss.

There are many ways to make money on Twitch, such as paid subscriptions, display ads, selling merchandise (like t-shirts and mugs), and more.

Some of the most successful streamers on Twitch make hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars every year, but it's important to know that most don't make much at all.

29. Google Evaluator

A search engine rater, also known as a Google rater, is a person who looks at websites and blogs and gives them a score based on how good and useful they are to Google.

You don't need to be tech savvy or have a great background for this job. Google actually wants regular people like you to rank websites. Plus you can do it in your own language. Google works in many different countries, so you can help right where you are.

30. Actuary

An actuary is a financial expert who helps businesses identify and manage their risks related to money, such as insurance, pensions and investments.

They use math and statistics to predict what might happen and help companies make smarter financial decisions.

Actuaries can earn a good salary, and as they gain more experience and pass more exams, they can earn even more money. Depending on where they work and how experienced they are, actuaries earn an average salary of $70,000 to more than $100,000 each year.

14 Ways You Can Make Money With Facebook

Facebook is the largest social network in the world. Whether you own a full-fledged business or have just one item to sell, anyone can make money with Facebook.

14 Ways You Can Make Money With Facebook,
14 Ways You Can Make Money With Facebook,

Who Can Make Money With Facebook?

Anyone can make money with Facebook. Like everything in life, you have to be persistent and not give up if your campaign doesn't work the first time.

For most of these proposals, the quality of your Facebook profile will be your best way to make a first impression. Unfortunately, there are a lot of spammers on Facebook who make promises to the world and never keep them.

You don't want to be one of these people because your chances of making money will be slim.

Make sure your Facebook profile looks like you're a real person. Insert your photo or your business logo in the profile picture or cover photo section.

Facebook Monetization Eligibility Requirements

To earn money on Facebook, you must meet Facebook's monetization requirements. This means that to monetize your Facebook Page you need to do the following:

  • • You must meet Facebook's community standards, which means providing appropriate content free of profanity and dangerous material
  • • You must follow Facebook's monetization rules, including the content you share, how you accept payments, and how you receive payments
  • • To earn money, you must follow the monetized content rules that apply to every content you share

What can you sell on Facebook?

Almost anything can be sold on Facebook. Most people use Facebook to make money selling their used cars, second hand items, handmade items, e-books and to advertise weekend garage sales.

In general, you can sell anything on Facebook that you can buy at your local store without having to show photo ID or a doctor's prescription.

How to make money with Facebook

Once your profile is ready to go, you're ready to start making money. In many cases, you will be selling items or services that you already own. But we will also add a few more suggestions.

1. Write a post on Facebook

If you only want to sell to your current Facebook friends, you can post. In the "What do you mean?" box, start typing what you want to sell. You can also add a picture of the item.

14 Ways You Can Make Money With Facebook,
14 Ways You Can Make Money With Facebook,

You only share posts with your friends, but they can be seen by others you don't know if your friend shares the post.

You may have seen your circle of friends selling cars, real estate, and other assets instead of having to sell themselves to strangers.

If you've never sold anything on Facebook, you can use their posts as an example to model your post.

2. Join local buying and selling groups

If you're trying to sell locally, there's a good chance you probably won't sell to a friend. That's why you also need to join local buying and selling groups.

Facebook makes selling very easy because you can usually create a post in one group and have the option to select other groups before posting.

For example, let's say you want to sell your car. Your local city or county most likely has at least two different buying and selling groups that accept used car offers. Even if you only make one post, it will appear in multiple groups and reach more Facebook members.

Some of the most popular groups are garage sales and automobiles. To quickly find groups in your area, click on "Buy and Sell Groups" under the Explore menu. You can also search for group names and filter different options as well.

3. Sell on Facebook Marketplace

Don't forget to sell on Facebook Marketplace too. Marketplace is a free-for-all feature where you can buy, sell or trade almost anything in your area.

Although not as specialized as local buying and selling groups, everyone has access to Facebook Marketplace, so they can easily share your post with their friends and maybe even find something special they've been looking for.

4. Get bonuses for referring friends

Do you use an online service that you love and want to share with others? Word of mouth is one of the most effective forms of advertising.

Companies know this, which is why they offer a referral bonus when your friends join via social media.

One company that offers bonuses for referring friends on social media is Rakuten. You may already be using them to earn cash back on almost every online purchase yourself!

You can send email invitations or click the social sharing buttons in your account to share your referral link. If your friend signs up through your referral link, you can get a cash bonus!

5. Create Facebook Ads

You can create Facebook ads for someone else's page or your page.

My friend Bobby teaches people how to make an extra $1,000 or more per month running Facebook ads for other companies and blogs. He is known as the Millennial Money Man and has a course called He started creating ads for other people as a side hustle and grew into a regular income.

As a business owner, you can run ads to help your business grow. For this suggestion, you will first need to create a Facebook page for your business or website. In fact, think of Pages as the “Facebook for business”.

But don't forget that you can make money by running Facebook ads to reach people who aren't currently following your page. I recommend taking my friend Bobby's Facebook Ads course to learn how to make money posting ads.

6. Enter contests

Some companies and blogs run contests and you can get entries by sharing your Facebook link or following their Facebook page. You can also join contests and ad groups to find the latest opportunities.

Many of these contests are free, so the only entry requirement is your time. Each giveaway is different, but you might have a chance to win Amazon gift cards, kitchen gadgets, or a new backyard grill set.

7. Invest in Facebook

This is another suggestion that every Facebook user can use to make money on Facebook. And you don't even need to create a Facebook account! Ironic as it may seem, Facebook is a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq.

Facebook's stock symbol is META and can be purchased at any brokerage in your IRA or taxable brokerage account.

As with any investment in the stock market, Facebook is not guaranteed to make you money. Its share price can fluctuate daily, so you should invest and plan long-term holding to make a profit.

If you prefer a less volatile way to invest in Facebook, you can consider buying an index fund that currently holds Facebook in its portfolio.

8. Hold a fundraiser

Even if you won't personally benefit from this proposal, you can still help raise money for personal or non-profit causes in your spare time by hosting free and paid online events. Crowdfunding has become a popular way to help others with financial needs pay their bills with the help of outside help.

You can create a fundraising page for one of the causes below:

  • • Personal emergency
  • • Health and medicine
  • • Education
  • • International news
  • • Faith
  • • Sports and yoga
  • • Fashion and beauty

There are many noble causes that members of the Facebook community are willing to support. The only problem is they don't know where to look. Fortunately, this feature helps to solve this problem.

9. Apply for a job

Facebook also has its own job board to help you find a new job. Local companies will advertise open positions in the "Employment" tab.

This page has both full and part-time positions for many industries, so scroll down to see all the opportunities.

In addition to the Facebook Jobs button, there are many groups that list online leads. You can join different groups to find leadership positions and get information about the application process and work experience from other group members.

10. Become a social media manager

If you are social media savvy, you can also get paid to manage your company's social media accounts.

Your duties may include the following:

  • • Scheduling posts on social networks
  • • Responding to comments
  • • Creating social media graphics
  • • Tracking ad campaign metrics
  • • Building audience size
  • • Affiliate marketing
  • • Digital marketing
  • • Addressing guests after business

There is a good chance that you will need to manage social media accounts on platforms other than Facebook. So it might be a good idea to at least know the bigger platforms like Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.

If you are Facebook savvy, this could be the perfect opportunity to work from home and earn part time with flexible hours.

11. Join Facebook groups and help others

Another way to potentially make money on Facebook is to join groups and help answer people's questions. This will be a viable option for bloggers and business owners.

All you have to do is find groups that match your expertise. In a way, these groups can be said to have replaced the role of online forums that were popular in the pre-Facebook era.

If you are a smart investor, you can join several investment groups and help people with their various investment questions. For example, you can compare free investment apps or whether to roll over a 401k.

Even if investing isn't your specialty, you can find a group that's right for you. When you help people, you can build a reputation and you can even include links to your website to help the reader. Each page visit means more website traffic, which can potentially increase your search engine ranking and maybe even earn you an affiliate commission.

12. Make Facebook Live Videos

If you're not camera-shy, Facebook Live can be another fun way to build your personal brand with high-quality content. Maybe you create videos that show you working from home or using a product in real time.

Or you can host a live Q&A session where live viewers send in their questions and you answer them live.

Videos with In-stream ads

In-stream video ads are ads that play during your Facebook video. Most people will watch the entire ad when they know they can continue with your content after the ad plays. This is much more likely than ads that play separately from your content, which viewers are likely to skip.

13. Paid Subscription Offer

Offer subscriptions to fans to gain access to exclusive content. This is an easy way to monetize your Facebook page.

You decide what content to provide to your subscribers, and you can also consider offering special discounts or codes to those who subscribe.

It's a great way to have a steady monthly income while growing your audience.

14. Cooperation with the brand

Find brands that fit your audience and message and use them to increase your Facebook presence. Branded content will help you attract more viewers and earn more money.

Plus, brands often work with influencers like you to grow their brand and will pay you for your content.

The key to making this work is using Facebook's Brand Collabs Manager. This tool helps you find and connect with reputable brands.

FAQ Frequently asked questions

Making money on Facebook is possible! Here's a quick overview of answers to common questions to help you learn more about monetizing your Facebook Page.

1-How do I set up Facebook Pay?

Facebook Pay lets you enter your payment information once and pay for purchases across the app with the click of a button.

To set it up, use these steps:

  • • In your Facebook account, go to settings
  • • Click on "Facebook Pay"
  • • Add your preferred payment method
  • • Use Facebook Pay for your next Facebook purchase

2-How does Facebook's algorithm decide which posts are displayed?

Facebook's algorithm seems complicated, but it's broken down into four simple steps:

  • • Takes inventory: Facebook evaluates all the statuses of your friends and the pages you follow
  • • Signals: Facebook considers how much time (if any) you spend on each post to determine your likes and dislikes
  • • Predictions: Facebook uses the above information to decide how you might react to specific information shared in the News Feed
  • • Score: Facebook will create a score based on the above information and only posts with a high enough score will appear in the user's feed.

3-Facebook page vs. Group - What's the difference?

The Facebook page is the business page of the company. It is the "formal" page that provides all the information users want to know about the business. It allows interaction with customers, but the Facebook group offers more personalized support.

Facebook groups are based on creating a niche group or bringing together people with similar interests.

In a group, not only can the store talk to its customers, but customers can also talk to each other. Plus, it's an easier forum where everyone can meet.

4-Does Facebook pay you for views?

Facebook does not pay directly for views. Instead, they offer the opportunity to make money from in-stream ads, brand collaborations, fan subscriptions, and paid online events.

5-How much do content creators earn?

According to Zipp, content creators earn an average of $61,988 per year, or $29.80 per hour. However, these numbers can of course vary greatly depending on where you live and the type of content creator, as some are more recognized than others.

Cape Canaveral, Florida: NASA's telescope captured the largest solar flare in years, temporarily disrupting radio communications on Earth.

The sun spat out a huge eruption along with a massive radio burst on Thursday, causing two hours of radio interference in parts of the US and other sun-drenched parts of the world. Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said it was the largest eruption since 2017, and the radio burst was large and affected higher frequencies.

The combination resulted in one of the largest solar radio events ever recorded, Shawn Dahl of NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center said Friday.

Several pilots reported communications disruptions with impacts across the country, according to the Space Weather Prediction Center. Scientists are now watching this sunspot region and analyzing a possible burst of plasma from the Sun, also known as a coronal mass ejection, that could be directed at Earth. That could result in a geomagnetic storm, Dahl said, which in turn could disrupt high-frequency radio signals at higher latitudes and trigger auroras, or auroras, in the coming days.

The eruption occurred in the far northwestern part of the Sun. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory caught the event in extreme ultraviolet light and recorded the powerful surge of energy as a huge, bright flash. The probe was launched in 2010 and is in an extremely high orbit around the Earth, where it constantly watches the Sun.

The Sun sent out a powerful solar flare on December 14, 2023, peaking at 12:02 PM ET. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured an image of the event, which was classified as X2.8. https://t.co/4INrRFqIg7 pic.twitter.com/2dJ1YMkiXS

Cyber Security jobs

Companies "incredibly need" this in-demand skill, Google executive says, it's paying over $100,000 annually.

One of the fastest growing jobs in the US is cyber crime fighting(cyber security).

As more and more companies move online, cyber attacks are increasing, and drastically so. The FBI has seen a 300% increase in reported cyber crimes since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the threat of cyber attacks increases, so does the demand for cyber security experts.

In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that cybersecurity jobs will grow 32% over the next decade, which is much faster than the average for the occupation overall.

Currently, there are nearly 600,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs in the U.S. and about 3.5 million open roles worldwide, says Lisa Gevelber, Google's director of marketing for the Americas.

Cybersecurity is one of the most "underrated" jobs, says Gevelber.

Many people assume the field is hard to break into because it's a highly specialized technical role, he explains, but what they don't realize is that you don't need a bachelor's degree to get a high-paying job in the field—and once you do, job security is strong.

“Employers are really struggling to find people who are comfortable working in cybersecurity, but there is an incredible need and demand for people with these skills,” says Gevelber.

It's one of the reasons Gevelber founded Grow with Google, the tech giant's skills initiative, in 2017. The online program provides classes and certifications for in-demand skills such as cybersecurity and data analytics. The Cyber Security Certificate can be completed in as little as 3 months and costs $49 per month.

Other colleges and organizations, including Amazon Web Services, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania, offer comparable cybersecurity certificates.

How to get a job in cyber security?

Most cybersecurity jobs require at least a high school diploma or GED as well as completion of an online bootcamp or training.

The most popular cybersecurity jobs include security engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and security architects.

Although the day-to-day responsibilities are different for each role, the core skills are nearly identical, says Gevelber.

Cybersecurity professionals should be able to assess risks, troubleshoot issues, monitor internal and external threats, and work within an organization's IT infrastructure.

As a cybersecurity professional, you'll also work closely with people from other departments, so it's important to be adaptable and able to effectively communicate and explain your findings to others, he adds.

Making sure those technical and soft skills—as well as any certifications—are front and center on your resume is the "most important" step you can take in your cybersecurity job search, Gevelber says.

Six-figure salaries and the freedom to work from home. $100,000 plus salary

Cybersecurity professionals are needed in all industries, but the need is particularly pressing in financial services, healthcare and government, says Gevelber.

Companies like American Express and Colgate-Palmolive have directly hired graduates of Google's cybersecurity certification program, he adds.

The average salary for many cybersecurity jobs exceeds $100,000. According to the BLS, the median salary for cybersecurity analysts is $112,000, while the median salary for cybersecurity managers is $164,070.

“Cybersecurity is an exciting field with a lot of opportunity for growth,” says Gevelber. "Companies just can't fill these jobs fast enough."

There are also dozens of remote cybersecurity jobs on the market, some of which pay as much as $200,000 per year.
