HEC and Microsoft launch AI Skilling program and Founders Hub in Pakistan

Islamabad has recently witnessed a significant development in the field of educational technology with the renewal of the partnership between the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the technology giant Microsoft. This collaboration was strengthened by the signing of the Education Transformation Agreement (ETA) in a ceremony that marked a commitment to revolutionize technology education in Pakistan.

The event also saw the launch of several initiatives aimed at fostering innovation among students, including the Imagine Cup competition, Founders Hub and AI Skilling programmes. These platforms are designed to encourage students to showcase their creative ideas and entrepreneurial activities. Hassan Nasir Jamy, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications graced the ceremony with his presence.

Jibran Jamshad, Country Principal & Regional Education Lead at Microsoft, commented on the significance of this collaboration. "In this age driven by artificial intelligence, we are on the verge of a fundamental transformation of education. Our joint effort with HEC through ETA symbolizes our commitment to foster innovation and prepare young people with essential future skills,” he said.
The event started with an engaging welcome speech by Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum, Executive Director, HEC. He highlighted the importance of Founders Hub & AI Skilling in shaping a visionary and collaborative future in education and technology.
The keynote speech was delivered by Hassan Nasir Jamy, who emphasized the vital role of information technology and artificial intelligence in today's world. “The adoption of IT and AI is more than a choice; it is a strategic imperative that drives our progress and opens up new horizons, leading to a future rich in innovation, efficiency and limitless opportunity,” he said.
The focal point of the ceremony was the formal signing of the ETA, a milestone in Pakistan's educational development. Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman, HEC, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership. “Our agreement with Microsoft is a commitment to integrate technology into education and foster an innovative spirit. This partnership is critical to creating a dynamic and adaptable learning environment for our students,” he noted.
